While Chuck worked at Engine-165 and Ladder-85, he utilized a stretch of land along side the firehouse and cultivated it into a vegetable garden. He grew tomatoes, zuccini, basil, peppers and much more. After 9-11, Chuck's brother Firefighters decided to honor Chuck by preserving Chuck's passion. In doing so, they totally transformed the garden into a thing of beauty. Bushes, flowers, statues, and vegetables now thrive within a garden that is maintained in Chuck's memory by his FDNY brothers. I want to give special thanks to Tom del Pino, Richie Durso, Jack Thompson, Tom Stellacy, Joe Gonzalez, Tom Sweitzer and Joe Ricca of E-161. It is because of their efforts that for years to come, people will remember Chuck.
