While at Brown University Chuck became a brother of Delta Tau. He made friendships he held dear to him for life. After 9-11, Bruce Alterman, Delt & best friend to Chuck, proposed the idea of a memorial weekend to honor Frat brothers killed on 9-11. Russ Settipane, President of The Delt Foundation, took this idea and organized a tree planting ceremony on commencement weekend 2002. Al Romano, a Delt from days gone by, wrote, recorded and played his original song at the tree planting ceremony. As a result of that event, Chuck's nephew Michael was so moved by the ceremonies that he insisted on pursuing a transfer to Brown. We are proud to say that Michael attended Brown...and became a DELT. Chuck (A.K.A. Pumpy)would be proud. The following pictures document the ceremonies that took place. I have also included vintage pics of Delts from days gone by. Delts have always partied hard. But they have always known when to address important issues with dignity and respect. I hope this Gallery captures both.
